One Community, the Kirklees Community Foundation is celebrating having achieved Quality Accreditation from the UKCF (United Kingdom Community Foundations).
Formally endorsed and recognised by the Charity Commission for England and Wales, Quality Accreditation is a programme which endorses and encourages best practice by Community Foundations.
Achieving Quality Accreditation demonstrates that a community foundation is serious about quality and accountability. It specifies what we do and how we do it in a way that other quality systems cannot, and enables Community Foundations to position themselves as part of a highly performing network across the UK.
QA is based on a set of standards relevant to Community Foundations which include five key performance areas plus a corporate assessment which looks at the organisation as a whole. The performance areas are:
Definition & Governance
Finance & Risk
Donor Services & Development
Community Engagement & Communications
Paul Johnson, from One Community, said “We are delighted that we have passed the rigorous process involved in the Quality Accreditation standard, a quality system endorsed by the Charity Commission. This is due to the hard work and commitment of the staff, trustees, and our professional partners that we work with. The Accreditation demonstrates that One Community provides leadership on philanthropy in Kirklees and supports its donors. That we have a strong and effective grant-making programme, and that we are engaging with our local community and key stakeholders."
